Vince Staples

Vincent Jamal Staples, known professionally as Vince Staples, is a rapper and actor from Long Beach, California. One of hip-hop's most critically acclaimed and intellectually engaging artists, Vince Staples approaches rap with a writer's eye — his lyrics are populated with sharp social observation, mordant humor, and a vivid sense of place that brings Long Beach's streets to life with almost novelistic specificity. His debut double album "Summertime '06" (2015) was named one of the greatest rap albums of the decade by numerous publications, its cold, electronic production perfectly complementing his unflinching examination of gang culture and systemic violence. "Big Fish Theory" (2017) and "FM!" (2018) showcased his sonic adventurousness, blending electronic club music with West Coast rap. His 2021 self-titled album "Vince Staples" and 2022's "Ramona Park Broke My Heart" are considered some of his most mature and emotionally resonant work, earning him a Netflix biographical comedy series in 2022.
