Rosalía Vila Tobella, born September 25, 1992, near Barcelona, Spain, studied flamenco at the Escola Superior de Música de Catalunya before transforming that classical heritage into a groundbreaking contemporary sound. Her debut "Los Ángeles" (2017) won two Latin Grammy Awards; the conceptual "El Mal Querer" (2018) won Latin Grammy Album of the Year—the first Spanish-language album of its kind to win the award—alongside Best Fusion/Urban Interpretation. "MOTOMAMI" (2022) was her most ambitious project: a genre-deconstructing exercise incorporating flamenco, reggaeton, industrial noise, and dembow that won the Grammy for Best Latin Rock or Alternative Album, the Latin Grammy Album of the Year (making her the first artist to win it twice consecutively), and the Mercury Prize. She has collaborated with Travis Scott, J Balvin, Billie Eilish, and Pharrell Williams. Her performances combine extraordinary vocal control, innovative choreography, and striking visual art direction, establishing her as one of the most transformative artists working in any genre today.
