Mariah Carey

Mariah Carey, born March 27, 1969, in Huntington, New York, holds the record for the most number-one singles on the Billboard Hot 100 as a solo artist with 19—more than any other artist in the chart's history. Her debut album (1990) produced four consecutive number-one singles, an unprecedented achievement for a debut. "Music Box" (1993) has sold over 32 million copies globally. "Daydream" (1995) produced "Fantasy" and "One Sweet Day" with Boyz II Men, which held the record for most weeks at number one for 16 years. "All I Want for Christmas Is You" (1994) has generated an estimated $60 million in royalties and breaks streaming records every December, becoming the first Christmas song to top the Hot 100 in 2019 and doing so every subsequent year. Her five-octave vocal range—encompassing whistle register—is among the most remarkable in popular music history. She has won five Grammy Awards, sold over 220 million records, and received the Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award in 2024.
