Christopher Brian Bridges, known professionally as Ludacris, is a rapper, actor, and philanthropist from Champaign, Illinois, raised in Atlanta, Georgia. One of the defining rap stars of the 2000s and one of the few artists to successfully bridge the transition between the Golden Age and modern hip-hop, Ludacris built a legacy on astonishing lyrical dexterity, commercial instincts, and an inimitable personality. After founding Disturbing tha Peace Records and independently releasing "Incognegro" (2000), he was signed to Def Jam through DJ Drama and released "Back for the First Time" (2000), which became a multi-platinum success. Subsequent albums "Word of Mouf" (2001) and "Chicken-N-Beer" (2003) cemented his status as one of rap's biggest stars. He won three Grammy Awards. His acting career is equally successful: his role in the "Fast & Furious" franchise made him one of Hollywood's most internationally recognized Black stars. His philanthropic Ludacris Foundation has provided scholarships and resources to thousands of underserved youth.
