Kendrick Lamar Duckworth is an American rapper, songwriter, and record producer widely regarded as one of the most gifted lyricists and visionary artists of his generation. Raised in Compton, California, Lamar began releasing music under the moniker K.Dot before gaining widespread attention with his 2011 independent album "Section.80." Joining Top Dawg Entertainment (TDE) and Aftermath/Interscope under Dr. Dre's mentorship, his major-label debut "good kid, m.A.A.d city" (2012) achieved widespread critical and commercial acclaim, weaving vivid cinematic stories of West Coast youth. Lamar's 2015 masterpiece "To Pimp a Butterfly" integrated free jazz, funk, and spoken word poetry, becoming a cultural landmark during pivotal civil rights movements. In 2017, his studio album "DAMN." earned him the 2018 Pulitzer Prize for Music, marking the first non-classical and non-jazz work to receive the honor. After co-founding creative imprint pgLang, Lamar returned in 2022 with "Mr. Morale & the Big Steppers." In 2024, his single "Not Like Us" achieved instant historical streaming records, reaffirming his status as hip-hop's reigning architectural icon with 17 Grammy Awards.
