Karla Camila Cabello Estrabao, born March 3, 1997, in Cojímar, Cuba, immigrated to the United States at age five and grew up in Miami. She found fame as a member of Fifth Harmony on "The X Factor" USA (2012) before departing in 2016 to pursue a solo career that quickly eclipsed her group success. Her solo debut "Camila" (2018) debuted at number one on the Billboard 200. The lead single "Havana" (feat. Young Thug) spent six weeks at number one on the Billboard Hot 100 and blended Cuban musical heritage with contemporary pop. Her 2019 collaboration with Shawn Mendes, "Señorita," entered the Guinness World Records for most streams in 24 hours by a collaborative duo. "Romance" (2019) and "Familia" (2022) expanded her artistic palette with more explicit Latinx influences. She starred as Cinderella in the 2021 film adaptation, introducing her to a new generation. A committed advocate for immigration reform, she has shared her own family's immigrant story publicly to humanize policy debates, and supports education initiatives through the She Is Foundation.
